Ingredients for Vangi Bath
- Cooked Rice - 2 Cup
- Brinjal - 7 to 8
- Urad Dal - 2 tsp
- Bengal Gram - 2 tsp
- Mustard Seeds - 2 tsp
- Vangi Bath Powder- 3 tbs
- Curry Leaves
- Oil and Salt - Needed
Vangi Bath Powder
- Channa dal - 2 tblsp
- Urad Dal - 2 tblsp
- Dry Coconut - 2 tblsp grated
- Coriander Seeds - 2 tblsp
- Fenugreek Seeds -2 tblsp
- Dry Red Chillies - 5
- Cloves - 1
- Cardomon - 1
- Turmeric Powder - a pinch
- Cinnamon - 1 (Small)
Preparation of Vangi Bath Recipe
Heat a pan.
Dry roast all the ingredients given under vangi bath powder (channa dal, urad dal, cobra, coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds, dry red chillies, cloves, cardomon, cinnamon sticks and turmeric powder).
Grind them to make a smooth powder.
Take a bowl and soak the tamarind in water.
Take a pan and heat 2 tsp of oil.
Add mustard seeds and urad dal. Let it burst.
Then add curry leaves and fry them for few seconds.
Add brinjals (chopped as cubes) and 1/2 tsp of fenu greek powder. Cook them for a minute.
Take the tamarind extract and pour it the brinjal mixture. Add some more water if needed.
Boil the brinjal for 5 to 10 minutes in low flame. Let the water completely evaporates.
Now add the vangi bath powder and mix them. Cook for 2 minutes.
Finally add the cooked rice and mix them gentely.
A tasty lunch special "Vangi Bhath" is ready.
Tips - Vangi Bath Recipe
We can add curd while cooking brinjal instead of tamarind.
Add dry nuts like cashews and dry grapes for more taste.
