Ingredients for Shahi Paneer
- Paneer Cubes - 1 Cup
- Onion - 2
- Tomatoes - 2
- Cashews - 2 tblsp (Chopped)
- Almonds - 2 tblsp (Chopped)
- Fresh Cream - 1/4 Cup
- Ginger Paste - 1 tsp
- Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Cardamom Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Saffron - A Pinch
- Salt - As Required
- Sugar - 1/4 tsp
- Oil or Butter
- Bay Leaf - 1
- Cloves - 3 to 4
- Green Cardamom - 2 to 3
- Black Cardamom - 1
- Cinnamon - 1 Inch
Preparation of Shahi Paneer Recipe
First boil the onion for 5 to 8 minutes until it becomes soft.
Drain and allow it to cool to room temperature.
Grind the boiled onion to smooth paste and keep aside.
Similarly boil the tomatoes and make a smooth paste.
Soak the cashews and almonds for 15 to 30 minutes. Grind them separately and keep aside.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan.
Add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves, green cardamom and black cardamom. Fry them until the aroma comes out.
Then add the onion paste and saute them for 3 to 5 minutes.
Now add the ginger paste and garlic paste. Saute them until the raw smell goes off.
Add the tomato paste and saute them for another 2 to 3 minutes.
Now add all the dry powders(coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt).
Mix them and water and sugar.
Turn the flame to low and stir them until the gravy become thick.
Add the cashew paste, cardamom powder and a pinch of saffron. Mix well.
Whisk the cream well and add it to the gravy.
Finally add the paneer cubes and mix them well.
A tasty and rich, "Shahi Paneer" is ready for tasting.
Tips - Shahi Paneer
We can add garnish with other dry fruits like dry grapes, walnuts, etc.,.
Add 1 tsp of kasuri methi for a traditional taste.
