Ragi Dosa

We are having many varieties of dosas in south Indian cuisine. We are going to make "Ragi Dosa" today which is one of the simple and healthy dosa recipes.

Ingredients for Ragi Dosa

  • Idli Rice - 1 Cup
  • Urad Dal - 1/2 Cup
  • Poha - 1/4 Cup
  • Ragi Flour - 1 Cup
  • Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - As Required
  • Oil

Preparation of Ragi Dosa Recipe

Soak the rice and poha for 7 tp 8 hrs. Also soak urad dal and fenugreek seeds for 4 to 5 hrs.

Drain the extra water and grind the rice and poha by adding water carefully.

Then grind the urad dal and fenugreek seed to a smooth paste.

Take a deep bowl and add the rice batter and urad dal mixture. Mix them.

Now add the ragi flour and mix them well without lumps. The batter should be in dosa batter consistency.

Add water if needed and salt to taste.

Keep the batter in a warm place for 6 to 7 hrs. The batter will increase its volume.

Now heat the tava and apply a tsp of oil.

Pour a ladle of batter and spread in circular motion.

When one side cooks , apply 1/2 tsp of oil and flip to another side.

Let the dosa cook well and crisp. It will turn brown.

Once done transfer to a serving plate.

Healthy and tasty, "Ragi Dosa" is ready for tasting.

Tips - Ragi Dosa

If the batter is not rising up add 1/2 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 cup yogurt.

We can add finely chopped onions for more taste.

Serve the hot ragi dosa with sambar, coconut chutney, onion chutney, etc.,.
