Ingredients for Pulisseri Recipe

  • Chembu(Yam) - 1/3 Cup (Chopped as cubes)
  • Yogurt/Curd - 1/2 Cup
  • Coconut - 1/2 Cup
  • Small Onions - 1 to 2
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Dried Red Chilli - 1 to 2
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt As Needed

Preparation of Pulisseri Onam Sadya Recipe

First take the coconut, cumin seeds, small onions, turmeric powder, and chilli powder and grind them as fine paste.

Clean and cut the chembu into cubes and boil them with salt till it gets soft.

When the chembu has cooked well add the coconut paste and salt as needed and stir them well.

Beat the curd and 1/2 cup off water.

When the chembu and coconut paste cooks well turn off the flame and add the beaten curd.

Take another pan heat a tsp of coconut oil and add musturd seeds, fenugreek seeds, red chilli and the curry leaves.

When the musturd seed gets popped turn off the flame and add them to our chembu mixture and mix well.

Finally, our a traditional onam sadya recipe, "Puliserri" is ready.

Tips - Pulisseri Sadya Recipe

Pulissere is one of the sadya dish we can also add chillis instead of red chilli powder while grinding coconut.
