Garlic Gravy

We have lots of herbs in our kitchen which we are using just to improve the flavor on food. Many of as not realizing that the herbs have lots and lots of medicinal values.

Let us learn tasty and healthy “Garlic Gravy”.

Ingredients for Garlic Gravy:

  • Garlic – 100Grams
  • Tomato - 1
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 tea spoon
  • Chilly Powder – 2 Tea spoon
  • Baby Onion (or) Small Onion – 100 Grams
  • Green Chilly – 2 Nos
  • Tamarind
  • Coriander powder – 2 tea spoon
  • Gingelly Oil – 2 tea spoon
  • Asafoetida Powder
  • Mustard – 1 tea spoon
  • Fenugreek – 1 tea spoon
  • Black gram dal – 1 tea spoon
  • Curry leaves

Preparation of Garlic Gravy(poondu kulambu) :

Soak Tamarind in water for 15 minutes. Extract about a cup tamarind juice from it and keep aside.

Add oil to heavy bottomed pan

Now add mustard, curry leaves, black gram dal and mix them well.

Add finely chopped small onions mix them until it turns into golden brown.

Now add chopped green chili and Asafoetida powder to the mix.

Next, add chopped tomatoes and mix them until oil separates from the whole mixture.

Now, add our main ingredient “Garlic”, mix the mixture until the garlic turns brown.

Add Tamarind water to the mixture

Now add water and salt as needed.

Wait till the mixture boils well, until the raw smell.

Finally , Our healthy and tasty garlic gravy server with hot rice.
