Ingredients for Dum Aloo
- Potato - 10 to 15
- Onion - 1
- Tomato - 1
- Ginger - 1 tblsp (chopped)
- Garlic - 2 to 3 Cloves
- Green Chillies - 2
- Cashew Nuts - 10 to 15
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
- Fennel Powder - 1 tsp
- Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
- Bay Leaf - 1
- Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
- Cinnamon Stick - 1
- Cardamom - 1
- Cloves - 2
- Kasoori Methi - 1 tsp
- Curd - 1 tblsp
- Curry Leaves - Few
Preparation of Punjabi Dum Aloo Recipe
First boil the potatoes with salt and peel them.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add the boiled potatoes and fry them until the potatoes turns golden brown. Transfer them to bowl or plate.
Grind the onion to smooth paste and take it in a bowl.
Grind the tomatoes and take it in another bowl. Also grind the cashews separately.
Add ginger and garlic to a blender and grind them to smooth paste.
Now take a pan and heat a tblsp of oil.
Add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom, cumin seeds and curry leaves. saute them for few seconds.
Now add onion paste and saute them for 2 to 3 minute. Then add ginger garlic paste and saute them for 2 minutes.
Then add tomato paste and saute them for 3 to 4 minutes.
Stir them until the oil separates, then add all spices.(turmeric powder, coriander powder, fennel powder, red chilli powder and salt)
Mix well and add cashew paste. Stir them well.
Then add a tblsp of curd and mix well.
Cook them till the raw smell goes off, add water if needed.
Add fried potatoes and mix them.
Add a tsp of kasoori methi and turn of the flame.
Finally, transfer the Punjabi Dum Aloo to a serving plate.
A rich and tasty Punjabi Dum Aloo is ready to serve.
Tips - Dum Aloo Recipe
We can add a tsp of lemon juice instead of curd.
