Chilli Mushroom

"Chilli Mushroom" is a Chinese based mushroom recipe. Instead of making a batter and frying in oil we are going to stir fry the mushroom and mixing in sauce made with some simple and interesting ingredients.

Ingredients for Chilli Mushroom

  • Mushroom - 2 Cup
  • Capsicums - 1 Cup (Green, Red, yellow - Chopped as cubes)
  • Spring Onion Whites or Onions - 3 tblsp
  • Onion - 1/2 Cup (Chopped as cubes)
  • Ginger - 1 tsp (Finely Chopped)
  • Garlic - 1 tsp (Finely Chopped)
  • Green Chillies - 2 to 3 (Finely Chopped)
  • Red Chilli Paste or Powder - 1 tsp
  • Soya Sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • Vinegar - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Vegetable Stock or Water - 1 or 1/2 Cups
  • Salt and Sugar - As Needed
  • Cornflour - 1 tsp
  • Oil

Preparation of Chilli Mushroom Gravy Recipe

Wash the mushrooms and cut them to pieces.

Take a pan and heat 2 tsp of oil.

Add the finely chopped spring onion whites or onions. Saute the until the onion becomes transplant.

Then add the chopped ginger, garlic and green chillies. Stir them for 2 to 3 minutes.

Now add the onion and capsicum cubes. Stir them for another 3 to 4 minutes.

At this stage add the chopped mushrooms and stir them. Mushroom will starts to extract water and cook them until mushroom becomes brown.

Now add soya sauce, red chilli powder or paste, pepper powder, sugar, vinegar and salt. Mix them well.

Add vegetable stock or water and let it boil at simmer flame.

Take a separate bowl and mix the corn flour and 2 tsp of water.

Add the cornflour paste slowly to the boiling mushroom mixture. Stir them continuously so that it should not form lumps.

Once the gravy becomes thick turn of the flame.

Adjust the pepper powder, salt, soya sauce and red chilli powder based on the sauce if needed.

Our saucy and spicy Chinese based, "Chilli Mushroom" Gravy is ready.

Tips - Chilli Mushroom

Garnish with chopped spring onions.

We can add celery for getting more Chinese taste.

Serve with fried rice, ghee rice and even with white rice.
