Ingredients for Rava Kichadi
- Rava - 1 Cup
- Onion - 1/2 Cup (finely chopped)
- Ginger - 1 tsp (finely chopped)
- Green Chilies - 2
- Ghee - 4 to 5 tblsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cashew Nuts - 2 tblsp
- Vegetables - 1 Cup (Chopped Carrot, Beans, Peas and Tomato)
- Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
- Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
- Bengal Gram - 2 tsp
- curry Leaves - Few
Preparation of Rava Kichadi Recipe
Heat a tbls of ghee and add mustard seeds, let them splutter them add urad dal, bengal gram and curry leaves.
Add finely chopped onions and saute them until the onion turns color.
Now add slit green chilies and ginger. Saute them for another minute.
Then add chopped vegetables (carrot, beans, green peas, tomato) and saute them for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add turmeric powder and 3 cups of water. Add salt to taste.
When the water starts boiling reduce the flame to low.
Add the roasted rava to the boiling water slowly and stir continuously (Should not form lumps).
Stir them continuously until the water got absorbed. Add a tblsp of ghee for more flavor.
Keep on stirring until you get the rava Kichadi consistency. (Stir for about 5 to 7 minutes)
Now add the fried cashew nuts. Mix them.
Finally, transfer the Rava Kichadi to a serving plate.
A tasty and instead, Rava Kichadi is ready to serve.
Tips - Rava Kichadi
We can other vegetables like capsicum, boiled potato, boiled cauliflower, etc., .
Serve the hot kichadi with coconut chutney.
