Ingredients for Wheat Appam
- Wheat Flour - 1 Cup
- Rice Flour - 1 tblsp
- Jaggery - 1 Cup
- Banana - 2
- Grated Coconut - 2 tblsp
- Baking Soda - 1/2 tsp
- Cardamom Powder - 2 tsp
- Water - 2 Cups
- Oil / Ghee
Preparation of Wheat Appam Recipe
First peel the bananas and grind them to make a smooth paste.
Take a heavy bottomed vessel. Add water and jaggery. Heat them until the jaggery melts.
Strain the jaggery water.
Take a bowl. Add banana paste and strained jaggey water. Mix them well.
Now add the cardamom powder, dry ginger powder and mix them well.
Add the wheat flour and mix them to make a thick batter (Thicker than dosa batter).
Then add the baking soda and mix them. Allow it ferment for 3 to 4 hours.
Take a paniyar pan and heat oil or ghee.
Fill in the holes with the batter and cook them covered in low flame.
When one side turns brown turn to other side and cook the uncovered.
Make sure both sides cooks well and turns golden brown.
Transfer the soft and sweet Panniyaram to a serving plate.
Tasty and traditional, "Wheat Appam" is ready for celebrations.
Tips - Wheat Appam
Add grated coconut to make the appam more delicious.
