Ingredients for Paal Kozhukattai

  • Rice Flour - 1 Cup
  • Jaggery - 125 grams
  • Ghee - 2 tblsp
  • Grated Coconut - 4 tblsp
  • Milk - 1/2 liter
  • Cardamom Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • saffron - A Pinch

Preparation of Paal Kozhukattai Recipe

Take a heavy bottomed pan and heat 1/4 cup water.

Add grated jaggery and mix well.

When the jaggery melts completely add grated coconut, cardamom powder and ghee. Mix well.

Now add the rice flour with salt to taste and mix well continuously. (Should not form lumps)

When the rice flour mix well, turn off the flame.

When it is warm, make small balls with the rice flour mixture.

Boil the balls in idli pot for 5 to 7 minutes.

Now, take another pan and boil milk. Add saffron and cardamom powder. Mix them.

Finally, add the boiled balls to the milk and allow them to cook to 5 minutes in low flame.

A celebration special tasty, Paal Kozhukattai

is ready.

We can make the same recipe with coconut milk instead of dairy milk.
