"Mohanthal" is a traditional Gujarati dessert recipe. Its a popular Indian sweet made for many special occasions like Diwali.

Ingredients for Mohanthal

  • Gram Flour / Besan - 1 Cup
  • Khoya - 1/4 Cup (50 gm)
  • Ghee - 1/2 Cup
  • Milk - 3 tblsp
  • Sugar - 3/4 Cup
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Almonds - 2 tsp
  • Pistachios - 1 tblsp
  • Cashews - 1 tblsp

Preparation of Mohanthal Recipe

Take a big sauce pan. Add sugar and 1/2 cup water. Stir them continuously until the sugar gets dissolved.

Let the sugar water boil until the sugar syrup got thick ball consistency.

Take another pan add 1 tblsp of ghee and besan flour. Mix them well

Cook them until the flour turns light brown.

Add the khoya and mix them again.

Then add cardamom powder. Mix them continuously in low flame.

Pour the sugar syrup and stir them again.

Once the sweet mixture got enough consistency turn off the flame.

Finally add chopped almonds, pistachios and cashews.

Take a plate and grease with ghee and spread the mixture on it.

Garnish with remaining nuts and let them cool.

Cut them into square shapes.

Tips - Mohanthal Recipe

Instead of khoya we can add condensed milk for making a instead mohanthal recipe.
