Ingredients for Makhane Ki Kheer
- Makhana/Foxnuts - 1 Cup
- Sugar - 1/2 Cup
- Milk - 1/2 Liter
- Dry Grapes
- Ghee - 3 to 4 tblsp
- Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Saffron - A Pinch
Preparation of Makhane Ki Kheer Recipe
Heat a pan. Add makhana and 2 cups of water. Let it boil for 5 to 10 minutes.
Soak the saffron in 2 tbls of milk.
Drain the water and keep the cooked makhana in a bowl.
Heat a tsp of ghee and fry the cashew nuts and dry grapes separately and keep aside.
Take a heavy bottomed pan and add milk.
Bring the milk to boil Once the milk starts boiling reduce the flame.
Add the sugar and mix it well, the sugar will starts melt.
Cook them for another 15 to 20 minutes in low flame.
Add the cooked makhana and mix them. Allow it to cook for another 10 minutes.
Add the crushed cardamom powder and turn off the flame.
Add the soaked saffron and mix them.
Once you got the thick payasam consistensy turn of the flame.
Finally, add the fried cashew nuts and dry grapes and mix them.
A traditional and different navrathiri special "Makhane Ki Kheer" is ready.
Tips - Makhane Ki Kheer Recipe
Add jaggery instead of sugar for a different taste.
