Ingredients for French Onion Soup
- Onions - 4 to 5
- Butter - 1/2 Cup
- Garlic Cloves - 2
- Vegetable Broth - 2 Cups
- All Purpose Flour - 2 tblsp
- White Wine - 1 Cup
- Thyme Sprigs - 2
- Bay Leaves - 2
- Black Pepper Powder - As Needed
- Kosher Salt - As Needed
- Baguette - 1
Preparation of French Onion Soup Recipe
Take a large saucepan and melt butter.
Add chopped onion, garlic, thyme spring, bay leaves, pepper and salt.
Cook them for 30 minutes until the onion becomes soft and caramelized.
Add a cup of white wine and let it boil for 5 minutes in low flame until the wine gets evaporates.
Now discard the thyme spring and bay leaves. Add four to the onion mixture and stir them.
In medium flame cook them for 10 minutes until the raw smell of the flour goes off. Make sure the does not get burnt.
Add the beef or vegetable broth and let it boil for 10 minutes in low flame.
Season with salt and pepper. Turn of the flame.
Just before serving, preheat the boiler and arrange the baguette on a baking pan.
Broil until it becomes golden brown and bubbly for 5 minutes.
Pour the onion soup into a bowl and put the toasted baguette over it.
Garnish with grated cheese.
Traditional and tasty "French Onion Soup" is ready.

Instead of baguette we can add bread slices on top of the soup.
