Ingredients for Borsch Soup
- Beets - 2 to 3
- Potatoes - 2 to 3
- Onion - 1
- Carrot - 2 Finely Chopped
- Kidney Beans - 1/2 Cup
- Cabbage - 1/2 Cup
- Bay Leaves - 2
- Broth - 6 Cups
- Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Lemon Juice - 4 tsp
- Tomato Sauce - 5 tsp
- Salt - As Needed
Preparation of Borsch Soup Recipe
Take a large sauce pan and add chopped beets. Add water and cover the pan.
Let the beets boil for an hour until it gets soft and cooks well. Keep the beets aside.
In the same water add the potato slices and let it boil for 15 to 20 minutes.
Add the sliced cabbage on potatoes pan and let it boil for some more minutes.
Then add the cooked beets and mix them. Let it boil in low flame.
Take a pan and heat a tsp of oil.
Add finely chopped onions saute well till it turn transparent.
Then add finely chopped carrot and kidney beans and saute them till the raw smell goes off.
Add tomato sauce and saute them well.
Now add chicken broth, lemon juice, bay leaves, papper powder, a pinch of sugar, salt to the vegetables sauce pan and cook for 5 to 8 minutes.
Finally add the onions and carrot mixture to the sauce pan.
Cook them for 5 to 10 minutes.
A healthy Russian special "Borsch Soup" is ready to be served hot.
Tips - Borsch Soup Recipe
We can also add a chopped dill for more taste.
Garnish with fresh cream and serve hot.
