Ingredients for Kollu Podi / Horse Gram Powder
- Kollu / Hourse Gram - 1/4 kg
- Dry Red Chilli - 4 to 5
- Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
- Garlic Cloves - 5 to 6
- Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
- Salt
Preparation of Kollu Podi Recipe
First take the pan and heat it.
Add kollu and dry roast them for 5 to 8 minutes until it turns dark brown. Transfer to a plate.
Now in the same pan add dry red chillies, asafoetida and cumin seeds. Roast them for 2 to3 minutes and transfer to same plate.
Let them cool to room temperature.
Take a blender. Add the roasted kollu and red chilli mixture. Also add garlic cloves and salt to taste.
Blend them to make a fine powder.
Transfer to a air tight container.
Healthy and tasty, "Kollu Podi" is ready.
Tips - Kollu Powder
We can add a tsp of chana dal and curry leaves for more taste.
We can use this healthy kollu podi as side dish for dosa and idli.
Mix this powder in hot rice with 1/4 tsp of gingelly oil for tasty and healthy lunch.
